Dancehall artiste Kelvin Kusikwenyu, who is widely known as Killer T, has blasted promoter Partson Chimbodza accusing the Chipaz Promotions boss of mistreating artistes.
The Mbare-based chanter released a song titled “Vaisada Ndiimbe kuCity Sports”, last week telling his fans that the promoter did not include him on the line-up of this year’s Harare Cup Clash at City Sports Centre because of hatred.

“Ruvengo rwavo rwakatangira kuCarnival pandakaenda kuLondon vakandiudza hauridze kuCity Sports (The beef started when I refused to play at Harare International Carnival and they told me I would not perform at City Sports Centre),” he sings.

In the song the musician alleges that he refused to play at Dancehall Carnival Night and went for another show in United Kingdom because the promoter who organised the dancehall night gig had offered him peanuts.

“My fans were asking why I failed to turn up for the show but I want them to know that I don’t play for peanuts,” go the lyrics in part. Although Killer T does not mention Chimbodza’s name, the song narrates what the musician alleges transpired between him and the promoter. Chimbodza was responsible for the Carnival gig and the Cup Clash. The musician told The Herald Entertainment that some times as artistes they express their feelings through these songs.

“Our fans might think we are shunning them when we do not come for certain shows but as artistes we cannot just give in to some conditions set by these promoters,” he said.

Sources close to the two said the beef started when Killer T started to charge high fees at some of the gigs Chimbodza organised.
Chimbodza said he heard the song and knew it was targeted at him but said there was no bad blood between the two.

“From what I have observed the song is directed at me because I left him out of the City Sports Centre gig fearing that he would not come,” he said.
The award-winning promoter said during the carnival gig the musician did not communicate that he had another show in the United Kingdom.

Chimbodza denied that he was taking advantage of artistes by paying them peanuts at his shows.
“I don’t take any advantage of any artistes and we don’t just organise gigs for our benefit. The only problem is that these artistes tend to forget.”
