Zanu-PF national spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo has said the continued attack on the First Family and the revolutionary party’s leadership by the private media sympathetic to former Vice President Joice Mujuru should stop forthwith. The private media, especially the Daily News, has in the past days been awash with stories criticising President Mugabe quoting expelled Zanu-PF members Messrs Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo.

NewsDay joined the bandwagon yesterday through a lead story claiming that there were rifts in Zanu-PF’s Manicaland leadership.”

Cde Khaya Moyo said in a statement that the stories were false, adding that Mr Mutasa’s claims about Zanu-PF and President Mugabe were hogwash.

He said there was only one Zanu-PF led by President Mugabe.

“The continuous vitriol on President R. G Mugabe and to some extent to the First Lady by Mr Didymus Mutasa and generally to the Zanu-PF leadership has to stop,” he said. “The so-called independent media is awash with falsehoods on a daily basis from Mr Mutasa and Mr Rugare Gumbo et al who claim to belong to the authentic Zanu-PF.

“This is absolute hogwash. There is only Zanu-PF led by President R.G Mugabe and no one has usurped his powers as claimed by Mr Mutasa.”

Cde Khaya Moyo added: “For many years and until recently, Mr Didymus Mutasa et al were the loudest in saying President R.G Mugabe’s leadership is God given. Now they are talking the opposite. It is a matter of sour grapes. Such conduct is clearly deceitful.”

Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF is intact and its focus is on growing the economy.

“Our priority is to grow the economy and not to engage in responding to falsehoods fronted by the so-called independent media, on a daily basis,” he said.

“Falsehoods and hallucinations do not build a nation.

“We will not be diverted from the mandate given to us by the people to govern and grow the economy. Our focus is for our people to achieve total economic emancipation.”
