PRETORIA. — Zimbabwe international forward Khama Billiat was on target for Mamelodi Sundowns in their 3-1 win over SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership tie at the Lucas Moripe Stadium here on Wednesday night.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane said his team “broke the ice” with their win.

Themba Zwane and Teko Modise also scored for Sundowns after their loaned out midfielder Dove Wome opened the scoring for Matsatsantsa, who had Thuso Phala sent off.

“It’s a relief, we can’t hide it,” said Mosimane after his men ended a run of four straight draws in the Absa Premiership.

“For me, it’s not about a relief of winning, but about the guys that have been trying and being nervous.

“So, now that they broke the ice, they can come back to their ways. I am happy we got three goals and three points and can’t ask for more.”

Mosimane, though, conceded it was not a consummate display, but was pleased all the same.

“It’s unbelievable. Last week we played well, but we didn’t win. Today we didn’t play well, but we won.

“I think in the last 15 minutes we lost tactical discipline because they were already 10 men down and we needed goals.

“I am happy with the results, the performance. The last 15 minutes was not good, but to be honest, it’s good to see my team coming back from 1-0 down and score three goals.”

The former Bafana Bafana boss added: “We deserved the chance,we deserved the break. We have been playing very well and I told the guys that they will break the ice and I am happy we broke the ice with three goals.”

The Brazilians, the defending champions, are fifth on the table with 20 points from 12 games — 13 points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs, who have played an extra match. — KickOff.
