LONDON. — It turns out Roy Keane’s disdain for all things extends to shows of brotherly love and affection.

Just a day after the former Manchester United captain called the majority of Arsenal’s team average after their first leg defeat to Bayern Munich, the Republic of Ireland assistant has cast his disapproving eye over Paul Pogba.

The Manchester United midfielder played against his brother Florentin of Saint-Etienne for the first time in the Europa League on Thursday evening as Jose Mourinho’s men ran out 3-0 winners thanks to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic hat-trick.

As the two teams left the field at half-time, the Pogba brothers enjoyed an animated, jovial conversation as they walked down the Old Trafford tunnel.

Asked whether he was bothered by the on-the-pitch communication between the two brothers, Keane said he was.

“Yeah, it does (bother me). But the boy, Pogba, he’s a bit of a free spirit, a bit of a character. But I think it was a little bit over the top tonight – before the game and at half-time,” Keane said.

“They’ve spoke to each other more tonight than I’ve spoken to any of my brothers in the past five years – so all a bit strange.

“It’s all a bit strange. I think when the game started they were focused on the game. But all this stuff before and after the game, a lot of nonsense – but that’s the modern player, I’m afraid.”

Paul Pogba’s mother, Yeo, was in the stands at Old Trafford to watch her two sons face-off against each in a competitive match for the first time ever.

Before the match, Florentin (26) had said he hoped to make his younger brother “mad” and “irritable” during the Europa League first leg.

“He is quite irritable though, he doesn’t like to lose. His head starts buzzing when he loses. I learned to lose and I would say that you’re not losing but learning. But for him, when he loses, he goes mad,” said Florentin Pogba.

“These two games will be emotional and I hope we’ll take something positive from them.

Manchester United took a commanding lead in their last 32 tie with Saint Etienne as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 23rd goal of the season in an impressive hat-trick display. — The Telegraph.
