The Harare City Junior will be hosting the inaugural Harare Air Day which will be held on May 23 at the Borrowdale Race Course as a regular and annual event.

The main purpose of the air day is to raise funds constructing boreholes, improve sanitation and further the E-Learning programme in schools.

We also want to educate children and the family at large about the world of aviation. You often find kids shouting “Ndege, ndege, ndege!”, but have never been in an airplane and all they know is that there is a pilot and an air hostess.

We have organised this air day which will begin at 0900hrs to 1800hrs in a way that it is different from an air show which is identified with air displays and parachute droppings.

Our day is meant to give an up-close and personal interaction of the children and aircraft personnel.

As Harare Junior Council we have incorporated the Swissjet Aviation Development Trust, Air Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Printworks, POSB and many others to further up our social responsibility programmes that require financing.

We are expecting a high turnout of up to 10 000 people who include invited strategic Ministers, company CEOs, aviation fanatics, stakeholders, students and members of the public.

The family event will be packed with lots of entertainment from Sulu, Jah Prayza, the police band, Extra Large, Mic Inity, artistes from ZimTalent show and other activities that include aircraft exhibitions, talks on aviation careers with experts who will be on standby to answer all the questions.

Our Junior councillors have already begun selling the tickets in their respective schools and members of the public who wish to have fun with us can buy tickets at Avondale and Borrowdale shops beginning today, or you can contact Theo on 0739105150.
