PARTSON Jaure says CAPS United might have beaten everyone at the National Sports Stadium this season, but Dynamos provide a different, if not imposing, challenge.
The two giants meet in the first of back-to-back Castle Lager Premiership matches at the giant stadium on Sunday with expectations high on both sides following a good run of form in recent matches.

Despite concerns about DeMbare’s inconsistency this season, Jaure said big games against the likes of CAPS United or Highlanders were self-motivating.

DeMbare have not lost a league match to their opponents since 2009 and they believe they have a big psychological advantage.

“Even if we don’t play well on Sunday, we will have to push and fight harder. What we want is a win, as long as we beat CAPS United again.

“So, we urge the supporters to come in numbers to spur the teams on and make it really exciting,” said Jaure.

The Derby comes at a time when their opponents have been enjoying their game, especially at the giant stadium, which they have turned into their fortress since the decision to shift base from Gwanzura early in the season.

Both teams share the National Sports Stadium as home ground but it appears Makepekepe have been the most successful after winning all five games they have played there.

While DeMbare haven’t been consistent, collecting seven points in their last four games, the Green Machine have been mean as they managed to shore up their campaign with a 100 percent winning record which helped them rise to third position on the log standings.

Hopes are high in their camp and they believe this could be their big year.
Jaure, however, said DeMbare were not intimidated by their rivals’ form.

Dynamos and CAPS are tied on 26 points as the race nears the halfway mark.

“We are not afraid of them. They may have beaten others but Dynamos is not that easy to beat. They may have to dig deeper if they are to beat us but I don’t think we will lose to them any time soon.

“It’s important to win because both teams are almost at par on the log standings. So we have to collect maximum points now and then aim to win again when we meet them in the return leg. These are the two games we have to win every year,” said Jaure.

Jaure, who has been linked with a move to Pretoria University as direct replacement for Bafana Bafana defender Buhle Mkhwanazi, told the media yesterday that DeMbare are in good spirits and they were looking to defending their title for the fourth successive year.

DeMbare, however, will be without Anesu Gondo who is nursing a knee injury.

Fullback Ocean Mushure also missed yesterday’s training session as he was given time to rest to recover from a bout of flu.

Tafadzwa Rusike, Sydney Linyama and Masimba Mambare will miss the Derby through injuries while Tichaona Mabvura, who was not feeling well last week, could make a return to the fold.

Their captain Murape Murape, who was stretchered off the pitch after playing about 16 minutes in the 2-1 win over Black Rhinos last week, was also certified fit and could be available for selection.

DeMbare’s options were also widened by the availability of striker Clive Kawinga, who recently returned from injury, and Milton Makopa who is itching for game time after seeing little action since last season when he was haunted by persistent injuries.

The Derby is likely to be directed by assistant coaches as heads of the technical departments for both teams are currently attending a Caf A Licence Coaching course at the Zifa Village.

Mike Madzivanyika has been busy preparing Makepekepe for the battle with the assistance of veteran goalkeepers coach Richard Tswatswa after the duo recorded a good result in the absence of their boss Taurai Mangwiro at Chicken Inn.

CAPS United beat Chicken Inn 2-1 away at Luveve in the previous match while DeMbare were winning by the same scoreline under Philemon Mutyakureva and Tichaona Diya who stood in for Callisto Pasuwa.
