THE two prisoners who escaped from Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison Farm last month are still on the run but police and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services recently said they were closing in on the two  who are believed to be hiding in the country.Carrington Mutambarika (21) and Brighton Tshuma (23) were reported to have been working on the farm when the incident occurred.
In their escape they attacked a prison officer and left him for dead.

He was also stripped of his prison guard uniform.
He sustained serious head injuries and was admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital from where he was later discharged.

One of the suspects is believed to have worn the uniform after the attack.
Mutambarika was serving seven years for robbery after being sentenced in 2010, while Tshuma had four years for 12 counts of housebreaking and theft.

He was sentenced in 2011.
ZPCS national spokesperson Superintendent Elizabeth Banda yesterday confirmed that the two were still to be apprehended.

“Our officers are still on the ground hunting the two who are still at large,” she said.
National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said they were still looking for the two convicts.

He appealed to anyone with information leading to their arrest to contact any nearest police station.
Sources last week said they strongly believed that Mutambarika and Tshuma were assisted in their escape by the same prison officer they attacked.
