After a long wait for the launch of Jah Prayzah’s album “Jerusarema”, fans will tonight converge at the Harare International Conference Centre to witness the unveiling of the new release.

The musician will be out to prove that he is rising through the ranks of local music.

Last year, when the musician launched his fifth offering “Kumbumura Mhute”, it was received with mixed feelings but it later became a hit.

The musician said he was confident of the new product that has 11 tracks.

“I am open to criticism but interestingly when people said my previous album was below standard our shows got packed and the album later became popular. On this one we have done our work and people will love it,” he said.

For years he has been working with Jabulani Ndlovu as his producer but this album was done by renowned producer Keith Farquharson.

The producer’s experience with local artistes such as Oliver Mtukudzi and Chiwoniso Maraire enhances his understanding of the local music.

If the response he is getting on his live shows is anything to go by, then the musician is set to silence his critics.

Songs that have been received well by fans are “Eriza”, “Jerusarema Ngariyambuke”, “Tiise Maoko” and “Chinamira”.

Other songs on the album are “Roots” which features Jamaican musician Luciano, “Ndoenda”, “Daira”, “Chinamira”, “Vanorodza Museve”,”Zama”, “Zenze” and “Taura”.

“We have been sampling these songs at our shows and fans have already shown that they like them,” he said.

According to the musician he has spent more than two weeks rehearsing with his band to give a well polished act during the launch and at shows.

“We have done our part to give our fans the best on the launch and at our shows. So far people have bought tickets for the launch and we are happy that there is a big improvement in numbers,” he said.

At tonight’s event Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour while several musicians will grace the launch as guest artistes.

Sulumani Chimbetu and Cynthia Mare will be performers of the night.

Jive Zimbabwe, who will distribute and market the album, said they have prepared everything and by Saturday morning people from various parts of the country will have access to it.

Benjamin Nyandoro director of the organisation said all was in place and people should look forward to a well packaged CD.
