Suluman Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah

Ice & Fire Pamuzinda came alive on Friday as hundreds of people turned up for Suluman Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah’s joint show. Although there were other high profile shows in the city, the two musicians pulled a big crowd. The early showers did not deter fans from attending the show. The gig saw upcoming musician King Tazvida, the brother to late sungura musician System Tazvida warming up the stage.

He took fans down the memory lane with yesteryear hits such as “Anodyiwa Haataure”, “Vakuchemera Smoko” by the late Tazvida.

Up next was Jah Prayzah who thrilled fans throughout his performance.

The musician who is still smarting from a copyright issue involving a Ghanaian artiste Emmanuel Samini proved his mettle sampling songs from his upcoming album due for release next year.

He performed three new songs “Jerusarema”, “Mbada” and “Zenze Ticharikwachura” much to the delight of his fans.

As if that was not enough, he belted out most of his hits such as “Makanika”, “Kumbumura Mhute” “Moyo Wakaoma,” “Sango” and “Lisa” among others.

Speaking at the sidelines of the show the musician’s manageress Filda Muchabaiwa said they were overwhelmed by the response.

“Our fans are being supportive and appreciating that he is talented despite the copyright issue that came last week,” she said.

Chimbetu was the cherry on top.

Songs from the latest album “Gunship” kept fans dancing and singing along.

He left the crowd in stitches of laughter after he donned dreadlocks when he performed a duet with dancehall artiste Soul Jah Love called “Nyuchi” a favourite of many.

His publicist Joe Nyamungoma said it was just art and bringing fans closer to the dancehall musician.

“This is just a way of bringing fans closer to Soul Jah Love and we are happy that people loved it,” said Nyamungoma.

Show promoter Josh Hozheri said he was surprised that music lovers turned out in their numbers for the show.

“People have come to support us and we are happy that the artists as well did their best,” he said.

On New Year’s Eve, the venue will host sungura ace Alick Macheso.

“All is set and as you can see we have put a big tent to make sure that people will be covered in the event of rains,” he said.
