Tonight’s show, which will be an acoustic affair, takes place at Bar Rouge at Longcheng Plaza in Belvedere and the launch is set for Harare International Conference Centre on May 22.

Dubbed “The Last Acoustic Night Before Jerusarema”, the show will be for fans that have bought tickets to the launch.

The tickets will also be on sale at tonight’s show. The tickets are selling between $10 and $50.

“People that do not have tickets to ‘Jerusarema’ launch yet should not be worried because the tickets will be on sale at the entrance at Bar Rouge. This is a special show for our fans that will attend the launch. We want to have a good time together ahead of the launch.

“This will be a show when fans can request for songs that they like. It will be an interactive show,” said Jah Prayzah.

Jah Prayzah has been staging acoustic shows at various upmarket venues in the capital. It is a special arrangement where the musician trims his band and uses few instruments to produce a unique style.

“We came up with the acoustic arrangement after realising that some of our fans prefer a unique style that is different from our mass market shows. The shows are becoming popular and they help us reach out to the other end of our market,” he said.

The musician said the upcoming album was a journey into various aspects of life and he would maintain the traditional feel of his music.

He has engaged South Africa-based producer Keith Farquharson to enhance his style that fuses various instruments.

“The upcoming album will have various themes that are centred on social issues and we decided to bring Keith aboard because he has vast experience in Zimbabwean music and we trust that he will fine-tune our style in his own way and our combined effort should give fans a special product.”

The title “Jerusarema” is taken from a traditional dance practiced in Mashonaland East where Jah Prayzah comes from.

The is dance known as Jerusarema-Mbende and is part oif Unesco’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity because of its popularity.
