FC Platinum assistant coach Daniel Veremu says the Midlands side will be out to maintain their 100 percent winning run in the Premiership when they travel to Ngezi Platinum Stars on Monday. Veremu said the Premiership leaders were not putting themselves under pressure following a good start which has seen them collecting all nine points in the opening three matches.

He said they wanted to hand Ngezi their first home defeat at their new Baobab Stadium. Veremu said FC Platinum respect all their opponents in the league, but the club was optimistic they will collect maximum points at Ngezi. “They might not have lost at their homeground, but they must know that there is always a beginning for everything and so they might taste their first defeat.

“We are prepared for them and they might find the going tough because we need maximum points and we have already adjusted our training programme to suit the game on Monday,” said Veremu.

The former Warriors hardman praised coach Norman Mapeza for his influence on the young team.

Veremu said since the arrival of Mapeza, FC Platinum have been collecting maximum points from venues where they used to find the going tough.

“He is a teacher, brother and he shares his knowledge with us, players and everyone is free to express himself.

“He accommodates everyone, including ball boys and groundsmen. He is full of respect. He wants us to be disciplined.”

FC Platinum are on the roll and have collected maximum points from their first three matches.

They beat Tsholotsho at home (2-1) Highlanders 2-1 away and Chapungu 1-0 at Mandava in a tough duel.

Ngezi have won against whipping boys Mutare City 3-0 (away), drawn 1-1 with CAPS United at home before suffering their first away defeat to Hwange at the Colliery.

FC Platinum reported a clean bill of health and will be expecting Zambian import Obrey Chirwa to continue with his scoring touch.

Their play revolves around young Walter Musona, Wellington Kamudyariwa, Nqobizitha Masuku, the evergreen Winston Mhango and speed merchant Marshal Mudehwe.
