Winchester Tendai Mulizane (32) employed by Zim Photo Marketing, a subsidiary of Innscor, as a credit controller and Edson Bvopfe, a finance manager, have since appeared in court charged with fraud.

The pair pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini who remanded them out of custody to February 18 this year on US$100 bail each, coupled with reporting conditions.

The complainant in the case is Innscor, which is being represented by its finance director Mr Victor Kuchocha.

On August 20 last year, the State alleges that Innscor tasked an audit team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the misappropriation of cash or stocks of Zim Photo Marketing, as well as to quantify the extent of prejudice suffered.

It was discovered that there was misappropriation of cash collected from the company’s customers and falsification of records through putting a web of invalid documents, it is alleged.

It also allegedly emerged that during the period in question, Mulizane collected money from clients and instead of remitting it to Zim Photo, he connived with Bvopfe who was in a posi- tion to override the internal controls and the falsification of records. Bvopfe allegedly pushed the invalid documents to balance off customers’ accounts in a move to conceal the misappropriation of money, the State further alleges.

As a result, the company was prejudiced US$54 171 and nothing was recovered.-The Herald
