NETONE has recorded 200 000 new subscribers since the start of the Dash-for-Cash promotion last month. The network’s managing director Mr Reward Kangai thanked all the NetOne subscribers for their support and participation in the promotion.
He was speaking during the handover ceremony of a US$5 000 cash prize to Mr Samson Zindedza of Nembudziya, Gokwe.
Mrs Marufu of Dangamvura, Mutare, also won a cash prize of US$2 500. Mr Kangai added that he was pleased that the winners were coming from all parts of the country, evidence that network was widespread.
He said despite facing challenges, NetOne installed new equipment acquired from China in Nembudziya,  so that subscribers in that region can also have access to the Internet.
“Telecommunications have come a long way and we have made a leap from nothing to the most modern technology. We have gone deep into the rural areas to make people access the network,” he said.
When a subscriber enters the competition their names are automatically entered in the system and when they need to conduct a draw, they click a link to their website which automatically gives out the names of the winners.
