Court Reporter
JUDGMENT for Alick Macheso’s dancer, Peter Kagomera (24), in the case in which he allegedly bit a police officer in a bid to avoid arrest was yesterday postponed to July 16.
Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Olivia Mariga, who is handling the case, was off-duty and Kagomera appeared before Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa, who remanded him in custody.
Kagomera denied the two counts of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. In his defence, Kagomera said he did not know that he was fighting a police officer since it was dark.
He is jointly charged with Wellington Katsande (28) and his friend Blessing Chikonzo (26) both of Chitsvatsva Village, Seke.
The two are facing charges of obstructing police from arresting Kagomera and were remanded out of custody to the same date pending judgment.
Kagomera was denied bail on the grounds that he was not a proper candidate as he allegedly fought the police and was likely to abscond.
