LOCAL business and information company Phil's Superb Productions has established the Easy Access Information Centre which provides information about products and services offered by companies around the country.
The centre is focusing on providing vital products and services information across the entire country and the globe on Zimbabwean products and services on offer.
PSP chief executive officer Mr Phil Chingwaru said with the country's ever increasing tele-destiny, so there was need to close the information gap by going cyber. To get services from the company, the companies pay an annual subscription.
"The specific task of the centre is to link more than 6,5 million Zimbabwean consumers who have either little access to products and services available within the country. The escalation of the tele-destiny is unmatched by the provision of vital products and services directories available in country," he said.
Mr Chingwaru said that the liberalisation of the economy is perceived to be the desired stimuli to kick-start the economy.
"The perceived economic recovery is set to create opportunities across industries. This has resulted in increased capacity utilisation of most companies.
"However, the marketing aspect in a free economy as opposed to a protected economy has posed challenges for industry and commerce as it struggles to penetrate or generate much more sales owing to the unavailability of information on who is producing and selling what," he said.
Mr Chingwaru said that the consumer base is increasing and becoming more communicable through the advent of increased usage of cell phones but there was disparity in the availability of information to service the sector.
This anomaly can only be corrected by closing on the information gap by going cyber in the form of electronic compact directory and establishment of a call centre capacity.
The Easy Access Information Centre is providing the first SMS/text centre, which is available to all phone users who need contact details of businesses providing goods and services they need.
"The need for written feedback as in accessing contact details cannot be over emphasised taking into consideration that voice narration over cellphones may face challenges breaking of communication before a consumer has grasped the contact details of products he wishes to purchase."
In addition to the SMS centre the company has also launched the country's first electronic compact disc directory for all computers and cellphones branded as Easy Access Data Bank.
The directory comes in as a software package and is loaded onto laptops, desktops and cellphones for easy access for those in offices and in possessions of computers.
