‘Municipal probes gobble US$400 000’ PDF Print E-mail

THE Comptroller and Auditor General’s office has revealed that about US$400 000 was paid to commissions that investigated municipalities of Harare, Redcliff and Rusape. The MDC-T run councils were investigated for alleged corrupt activities.
The Comptroller and Auditor General’s report that has been tabled in Parliament revealed that some commission chairpersons for the three authorities were paid about US$51 000.
Comptroller and Auditor General, Mrs Mildred Chiri, said interpreters were paid about US$5 000 for their service.
She said Government could lose a lot of money by paying exorbitant allowances to investigating commissions.
Chitungwiza is currently under probe.
