THE stage had been set for the Zimpapers Golf Day scheduled for Borrowdale Brooke Country Club with over 80 corporate players expected tomorrow. Tournament co-ordinator Munyaradzi Hatendi said they are looking forward to a competitive and exciting event.
“We are looking forward on bringing together our readers, subscribers, advertisers and suppliers for a social and interaction platform.
“A total of 80 players have confirmed their participation and we have a lot of good prizes for the winners.
“The format will be four-ball-better ball stableford,” said Hatendi. 
Meanwhile, the Zambezi Tour will have their next tournament in the capital when Chapman host the Open Classic this month.
The tournament was scheduled for the latter part of the season but the rescheduling of the Joshua Nkomo Classic created space for the event.
According to the Zambezi Tour marketing and communications director, Tendayi Gwatiringa, the Open Classic will be played before the end of the month.
“Preparations are underway for the Open Classic and we expect a field of at least 55 professionals to turn up for the event.
“The Open Classic will now be played on the 29-30 June at the Chapman and a total of 55 professionals are expected to take part in the tournament.
“According to the original schedule we were supposed to have the Econet Joshua Nkomo Memorial in Bulawayo but at the request of the sponsors, this has been moved to a date set for later in the year.
“The Open Classic will be a 36-hole strokeplay event and has a US $15 000 purse,” said Gwatiringa.
Shane Pringle won the tournament last year and is expected to defend his crown.
The Open Classic will become the fourth tournament for professionals after the Mashwede Open, the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open and the Marange Resources Pro-Am.
