Chinhoyi Bureau FIVE Harare men who masqueraded as buyers before robbing two Chinhoyi men of 100 grammes of gold, cellphones and cash have been arrested. Innocent Kayo (26), Andrew Gurajena (33), George Musarurwa (39), Winston Chimwaza (34) and Edmos Siwela (30) all from Budiriro were arrested on Monday last week. A perceived normal gold transaction in Gadzema township in Chinhoyi with the five suspects turned around when the gold dealers, Ronny Kambuzuma and Rage Madzwira entered the suspects’ car to seal the deal. One of the suspects Kayo was dropped off on the way to create more space in the vehicle. The suspects allegedly dragged Madzwira out of the vehicle, stole US$85 and sped off towards Harare. Kayo led the police to Harare where they arrested Gurajena in Budiriro. He said police recovered a silver Audi at Maplanka Garage in Tynwald where it was being serviced. The gold was worth US$4 653. The gang has since appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Mr Funny Nyakudya who remanded them in custody to June 27. |
