Entertainment Reporter Otis Mahlatsi, a Zimbabwean artiste based in South Africa, is set to hold a series of gospel shows in Zimbabwe as part of his efforts to unite gospel artistes in the country through music. Speaking from his base in South Africa, the affable Mahlatsi said Zimbabwean gospel artistes needed to work together to strengthen the genre. “I believe it is not too late for our own local gospel artistes to at least take some time off their busy schedules and stage one big show for our fans, something they have been hoping to see for ages,” he said. deliverance when faced with trials and tribulations. “Quite a number of artistes have already expressed interest in taking part in the live shows. We are, however, yet to finalise on the list,” he said. A renowned businessman, Mahlatsi ventured into gospel music in 1994, having cut his teeth in the AFM Church, with the likes of Pastor Charles Charamba. It was only after he played some of his songs during a conference that some of his brethren encouraged him to record an album. As they say, the rest is history. Although he is currently engaged in a number of business projects, Mahlatsi acknowledges that music is his first passion. |
