THE country’s leading goal-scorer, Nelson Mazivisa, says he is not yet ready for the national team and has pleaded with fans to give him time to develop. The Shabanie Mine striker, who is on loan from FC Platinum, has been in terrific goal-scoring form this season.
“I am still young and learning the ropes and those who are in the teamare very good and can deliver, it’s just that they are unlucky,” said Mazivisa.
“Fans should not give pressure to the coaches to call me because when my time comes I will definitely be called.
“I am working very hard to make the required grade and I also wish toplay for my country one day, just like any other player, and God-willingI want to achieve something with the Warriors.
“The national team coaches are very good and with everyone’s support positive results will come.”
A lot of fans, especially here in Zvishavane, wanted coach Rahman Gumbo to try the player when he named his provisional squad before the Guinea match.
Mazivisa is focusing on scoring for Shabanie Mine and walking home with the Golden Boot award at the end of the season.“Competition is very stiff and Ali (Sadiki) is breathing down hard on my neck,” said Mazivisa.“In the second half of the season it will be more difficult but I am happy with the support from my coaches and teammates.
“My job is to score and I make sure I do my job because we play as a team and I am not bigger than anyone in the team.
“I just want the fans to continue rallying behind us.
I am happy to be working with coach Masomere (Luke) he is a very good motivator,” he said.
Mazivisa is on a season’s loan from FC Platinum, together with goalkeeper Muranganwa Nengomasha and fellow striker Francis Kanda.
He has been enjoying his game since joining the asbestos miners.
Married to Vanessa Chademoyo and with an eight-month-old daughter Mazivisa feels he must carry home a medal this year after spending years playing in the unfashionable Division One where he propelled Kiglon and FC Platinum to the Premiership with his goals.
