The First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe has urged the corporate sector to play a role in improving the lives of children living in homes by assisting the institutions provide food, clothes and refurbishment of

buildings.
She was speaking at her orphanage in Mazowe yesterday where Bulawayo’s Spar Bellevue donated groceries worth US$10 000.

Amai Mugabe said she works closely with many other orphanges around the country and they needed that kind of assistance.
“I certainly need assistance here and there. Obviously, when we embark on such huge projects we look up to the corporate world to play their responsibility and on behalf of other children’s homes, we need assistance in food, clothes and refurbishment of buildings,” Amai Mugabe said.

The First Lady expressed gratitude to Bellevue Spar’s assistance saying her orphanage will share the groceries with other charitable organisations.
The Mazowe orphanage is now home to 24 children aged between four months and two years.

“I am very grateful for this generous donation. It does not mean there are no such places (like orphanages) in Bulawayo. We feel honoured that you have chosen us and we are not going to take it for granted. As the mother of the nation, I interact with a lot of other charitable organisations and I will assure you that we are going to share these goodies,” Amai Mugabe said.

Mr Rajesh Modi, owner of the Bellevue Spar, appreciated the good charitable work by the First Lady. “Thank you for the hard work in alleviating problems faced by the less privileged in our society. Your charitable efforts are greatly appreciated,” he said.
