Cde Hokoyo dies PDF Print E-mail

Zanu-PF Budiriro 2 District Co-ordinating Committee member Cde Gladys Hokoyo has died. She was 49. Cde Hokoyo, whose Chimurenga name was Plucky, succumbed to heart failure at Parirenyatwa Hospital on Tuesday morning. She has since been declared a provincial hero.
She was once Zanu-PF Member of Parliament for Budiriro between 1995 and 2000.
Cde Hokoyo’s husband, Charles yesterday said: “She did a lot to the Hokoyo family including giving support to members of the extended family. We will miss her contributions and life will never be the same again without her.”
Cde Hokoyo will be buried today at the Harare Provincial Heroes Acre.
Born in 1962 in Mutasa District, Manicaland, Cde Hokoyo left the country in 1976 to join the liberation struggle in Mozambique.
She was stationed at Chimoio where she received military training.
At independence she was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army. She served in the army for one year and later transferred to the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
She is survived by husband Charles, five children and one grandchild.
Mourners are gathered at Number 46 Shaneragh, Mandara in Harare.
