Hundreds thronged Borrowdale Race Course for the Independence Concert on Thursday where they were treated to a life time event.  Alick Macheso, Mathias Mhere, Charles Charamba, Soul Jah Love, Sebastain Magacha, Hope Masike and Jeys Marabini were among the artistes who came to celebrate independence.
Charamba and his wife Olivia were the first on stage and belted out most of their hit songs, “Nyika Zimbabwe”, “Machira Chete” and “Rute” were among the crowds favourite.
Mhere was the next on stage and he utilised 20 minutes he got on stage to keep fans on their toes.

Songs from his latest offering “Nguva Yenyasha” became sing-along tracks.

Soul Jah Love went on stage with his wife Bound Lisa who performed a song called “Hatikwatiswe” before the dancehall musician excited the crowd with his hits.

Bulawayo-based group Iyasa also gave a spirited performance paving way for another gospel musician Magacha who worked to please the crowd and viewers at home.

Hope Masike proved her mettle on the mbira. Macheso and Chimbetu gave their best while Marabini and Leonard Zhakata showed their expertise on stage.

As the artistes were taking turns on the stage people were busy merrymaking proving that they were indeed enjoying the fruits of independence.
