WITH all the players in camp now, coach Shadreck Mlauzi said he was ready to implement his medium and short-term plans for the Olympic Games and the Africa Women Cup of Nations.

Most of the players reported for camp on Monday, including those from Black Rhinos and Flame Lily.

The quartet of captain Felistas Muzongondi, goalkeeper Chido Dzingirai and midfielders Marjory Nyaumwe and Nomazulu Tsuma arrived in Bulawayo yesterday.

“We now have a full squad. Earlier on (yesterday) we were at NUST and the test (anthropometric) went quite well,” said Mlauzi. “So we are hoping to continue with the tests tomorrow (today), we are doing the fitness test because anthropometric is about body measurement, weight and things like that.

“But now we are specifically targeting the fitness side. “Obviously we are excited at the fact that now we have been given the opportunity to start our preparations.

“We are going to use this time, we are going to maximise on the time we have. We are targeting the medium-term and at the same we have the short-term target for the next three weeks.

“Remember we have a game against Tanzania. We have a (friendly) game against Botswana, so it’s going to be a compressed programme,” said Mlauzi.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Women Football, Elizabeth Langa yesterday held a press conference at ZIFA House to announce her appointment as interim chairperson for women football.

Langa was appointed acting chairperson last year when the then chairperson, Miriam Sibanda, was suspended.

“We had a meeting this morning with the president, Mr Chiyangwa and his vice Omega Sibanda in connection with women football and we agreed that for the sake of progress of women football I should be in charge of women football at the moment.

“My duty is to put structures and make sure that football is being played this year,” said Langa.

Langa said the Super League will not be played this year as they want to come up with one league made up of 16 teams.

Langa will be working with Cecilia Gambe, Central Region chairperson Beulah Musara and Rosemary Muzvidziwa, who is chairperson for the Eastern Region. ZIFA president, Philip Chiyangwa confirmed the development and said Langa will be responsible for establishing football structures and will work with ZIFA Constitutional Review Committee.

“The (ZIFA) constitution provide for the president to appoint an interim chairperson. “There is going to be a constitution. The ZIFA Constitutional Review Committee chairman will work with the women to come up with the constitution, which we will give them.

“The constitution will spell out things to be done by Langa.

“They didn’t have a constitution, right now there was no order because there was no constitution,” said Chiyangwa.
