Award-winning songbird Cynthia Mare has denied reports that she has settled in the UK where she previously worked as a nurse because of economic hardships in Zimbabwe.

Mare who recently released a single with Green Ambassador Derrick Mpofu called “Dzoka Kumba” said she will be coming home in two weeks and had visited UK for her sister’s wedding.

“I’m coming back in two weeks. I only came here for two weeks ago for my sister’s wedding, one of the papers lied that I am here for good,” Mare said.

“Dai Zvaibvira” hitmaker revealed that she is working on a DVD of her album “Shinga” which will be launched in November. I have shot three videos so far from the album ‘Shinga’ and have four more to go then we launch the DVD,” Mare said.

Mpofu also spoke on the recent collaboration with Mare citing that she is one of the finest female music artistes in the country which is the reason why he worked with her.

“Mare is in my top three of female artistes in the country and she has immensely contributed in the music industry over the past decade so she was the best candidate in this collaboration,” Mpofu said.

Mpofu took a twisting turn from focusing on environmental issues, engaging Mare to work on social aspects of society on their single entitled “Dzoka Kumba”.

He said that he has enjoyed working with her in coming up with the song.

“We enjoyed the creative process and working together with Cynthia and hope our fans will enjoy this song,” Mpofu said.

“It is also in my hopes that people will vote for the song for it to dominate the charts and show my other side.”

It is so remarkable that Zimbabwean music artistes are joining forces to improve the industry coming up with remarkable productions in collaborations even with international artistes. Many Zimbabwean artistes are living on the proceeds they get from their music despite complains about piracy, shows and tours continue to generate income.
