AN HIV positive man from Kwekwe committed suicide by hanging in protest over his wife’s insistence on protection when being intimate. It is alleged that the now deceased Newman Ncube of Dieveld Farm, Sherwood, Kwekwe, decided to take his life after his wife refused to have unprotected sex with him.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident which occurred last Monday.

“We are investigating a suicide case in which a 30-year-old man committed suicide by hanging after his wife refused to have unprotected sexual intercourse with him after he had tested positive to HIV while she tested negative,” he said.

On the fateful day, Insp Goko said Ncube and his wife went for an HIV test where he tested positive while his wife tested negative.

“The two returned home where Ncube demanded to have unprotected sex with his wife which she declined insisting that they should use protection.”

A heated argument ensued culminating in Ncube assaulting his wife who began bleeding profusely from injuries sustained during the assault. The wife escaped and sought refuge at Ncube’s brother Nkosilathi’s homestead,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said Ncube then hanged himself on a tree in his wife’s absence.
