Hubby bashes wife over conjugal rights

A Harare man was on Wednesday ditched in court by his wife for being in the habit of assaulting her over conjugal rights. Julian Size claimed she no longer loved Fungai Mandikisi because of his violent behaviour. Size made the revelations at the Harare Civil Court where she was seeking a protection order against Mandikisi whom she was accusing of physically and verbally abusing her.

“This marriage is over from now onwards because I am sick and tired of being physically and verbally abused over conjugal rights,” she said.

Size told the magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza that Mandikisi was in the habit of showing her pictures of his girlfriends.

“He spends most of his time with girlfriends and whenever he comes home he starts forcing me to be intimate with him,” said Size.

She claimed that she was living in fear because Mandikisi was threatening to kill her through food poisoning.

“I no longer want to see him at my house any more and from now onwards he ceases to be my husband,” she said.

But Mandikisi said they were always fighting and quarrelling because Size was denying him conjugal rights.

“We are always at loggerheads because my wife is in a habit of denying me conjugal rights accusing me of sleeping with girlfriends,” he said.

Mandikisi told the court that he had no girlfriends as alleged by Size.

Mr Nyatsanza granted the order in Size’s favour which barred Mandikisi from physically or verbally abusing her.

He also said his court had no jurisdiction to deal with divorce issues.
