Huawei Zimbabwe launched their four day technology road show at Cresta Lodge Hotel on Monday.
Huawei will be showcasing their state of the art equipment for the enterprise market until March 28.
The roadshow is part of a continental, biannual event, where their technology truck travels across Africa showcasing the company’s latest products.

The theme of the Roadshow is “Connected Possibilities – Make it Possible”. The event was attended by Information and Communication Technology, and Postal and Courier Services deputy Minister Dr Win Mlambo , Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Lin Lin, TelOne managing director Mrs Chipo Mtasa and NetOne`s managing director Mr Reward Kangai.

Speaking during the official opening, Huawei Zimbabwe managing director Mr Steven Wen they will be introducing the concept of ICT transformation, infrastructure transformation and business operation transformation, in addition to highlighting the benefits of their Value Growth Solution (VGS) which helps customers to improve income, increase efficiency and enhance user experience.

“We will introduce the innovative SoftMobile solution in the radio access which is a future proof deployment for 10 years evolution, and we will showcase our latest innovations in the wireless field such as the blade RRU, Adaptive Antenna Unit (AAU), AtomCell, Lampsite, Cloud BBU, Single Radio Controller (SRC) etc.

“From a network perspective we will showcase our LTE Backhaul architecture evolution which includes our industry best small router, as well as our EBAND outdoor microwave and Non Line of Sight microwave (NLOS) solutions.”

In addition Huawei is highlighting their high integration OTN products which allow smooth migration from SDH to DWDM and our multi access service solutions provided by our FTTx products.

Huawei’s roadshow is displaying green energy products and solutions used in different scenarios in Africa to decrease CAPEX and OPEX and reduce CO2 emissions.

Their new environmentally friendly base stations towers are much smaller and portable, coming with a benefit for much easier installation even on building blocks or street light towers as they are software defined radio base stations.

Although the base stations are much smaller in size, Huawei said they are much more powerful than the traditional base stations and have capacity accommodate three different mobile operators on various technologies like 3G, 4G or CDMA all in one.

An interesting product release for both enterprise and home market is their IPTV system which they introduced to the Government telcos, Huawei said their system  will revolutionise entertainment  at home via Internet based Television streaming on local bandwidth in 3D or 4D though the service will demand high bandwidth.

The IPTV will also have connection to international TV stations, Google app store, social network access and local storage playing capability.
This poses an opportunity for local players and broadcaster to stream their content using the channel. Dr Mlambo said Zimbabwe is) keen to adopt the sophisticated technologies being displayed by Huawei and to adapt the new base station models which have large bandwidth capacities and are environmentally friendly.
