HERENTALS came from behind to secure a point against bottom-of-the-table Shamva in a Northern Region Division One match at the Italian Sports Club yesterday.

Herentals, who surrendered second place to Gunners on Wednesday, are now 10 points behind leaders Black Rhinos.

Chauya Chipembere beat Commando Bullets on Wednesday. Shamva, who were the underdogs, started brightly by taking the lead after five minutes through a Solomani Mhonya header after a good build-up involving Genius Sawika and Simba Nyamombe.

The gold miners were back to haunt their opponents in the 18th minute when Emanuel Chingowo’s flashing header beat Frank Kuchineyi in goals for Herentals.

Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva, the Herentals coach, went into panic mode and replaced Sakala Garan’anga with Prince Mutasa in the 25th minute and the move paid dividends as he scored four minutes after the breather.

The goal unsettled Shamva who conceded again in the 51st minute when Wilmore Chimbetu headed home.

“It is difficult to play these bottom-placed teams, but we are content with the point,” said Mutiwekuziva.

Shamva captain Emmanuel Chinguwo blamed complacency for his team’s draw.
