HERENTALS are only one game away from clinching this year’s ZIFA Northern Region Division One soccer title after they edged ZRP FC 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium B Arena on Saturday

Herentals got their all-important goal through Carlos Mavhurume.

The win took them to 63 points as second-placed Golden Valley managed an identical 1-0 win over Shamva United at Rimuka.

Herentals need to win their next assignment against Blue Swallows to be crowned champions.

Oliver Chirenje, the Herentals team manager, feels that they are already “home and dry” and said nothing will stop them from fulfilling their dream of playing in the Premier League next season.

“I think it’s a done deal as this win means we only need a draw against Swallows which I think is possible. We will be crowned champions next weekend if all goes well in this match,” Chirenje said.

Meanwhile, nomadic coach Moses “Bambo” Chunga is rumoured to be on the Herentals technical team’s radar once they get promoted.

Chunga, who is now a regular at Herentals’ games, is said to be eyeing a technical advisor’s post but Herentals team manager Chirenje denied the claims.

“It’s just people’s talk. Chunga is just our friend and we have come a long way with him. We are not in a rush to change our technical bench,” he said.
