Members of the Zanu-PF Youth League have called on Government, development agencies and the corporate sector to come up with a fund to assist traders whose wares were reduced to ashes by an inferno at Glen View Home Industry Complex along Willowvale Road in Harare on Wednesday. The Youth League toured the complex yesterday to ascertain the extent of the damage.

By yesterday, the cause of the fire was still unknown while investigations were ongoing.

Zanu-PF Harare political commissar Cde Shadreck Mashayamombe, who was part of the delegation, said the inferno was a national disaster given that more than 5 000 traders were affected.

Zimbabwe Youth Council chairperson for Harare province Cde Acie Lumumba said the inferno had robbed traders of their only source of income.

“What is important is for Government, the corporate world and youths to come up with a rescue fund to resuscitate the market. Counting losses will not help. We need to come up with a plan.”
