Zanu-PF Harare Province Coordinating Committee yesterday endorsed the candidature of Cde Mugabe as the President and First Secretary of the party at the National People’s Congress to be held in December. The endorsement was made at the extra-ordinary PCC meeting held at the party’s provincial headquarters. Zanu-PF Harare provincial chairman Cde Amos Midzi said they had unanimously endorsed President Mugabe because of his exceptional leadership qualities.
“We met today as a province and looked at the way forward as we go to the National People’s Congress where we will elect the party’s leadership.

“We resolved that what we want to achieve requires that we have a dedicated leader, who is principled and is able to carry forward our aspirations.
“And because of that we have resolved as Harare Province to support His Excellency President Mugabe as the President and First Secretary of our party Zanu-PF at the National People’s Congress,” Cde Midzi said. He said Zanu-PF Harare province would continue working to fulfil the promises made to the people during elections.

Meanwhile, Cde Midzi said the province was ready to welcome the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe when she addresses a rally in the capital tomorrow. Dr Mugabe is holding rallies countrywide following her nomination to lead the Zanu-PF Women’s League.

“On Wednesday we are going to welcome Amai Dr Mugabe and as a province we promise that we will give her the welcome befitting of her status,” Cde Midzi said.
Dr Mugabe has since addressed rallies in Chinhoyi and Gweru.
