The Harare Air Day that was scheduled for tomorrow at Borrowdale Racecourse has been postponed.

The postponement comes after a misunderstanding between organisers, Swiss Jet and the Civil Aviation Authority over security clearance.

In a statement, Swiss Jet said the air day might be held on August 8 if the hurdle is cleared.

They said CAAZ had withdrawn their initial clearance of the event in unclear circumstances.

“Security clearance was duly granted and the CAAZ also granted the clearance subject to the production of the list of aircraft that would be flown in for the display together with the pilot names. The coordinators of the event duly complied with the CAAZ request,” read the statement.

“However, on Tuesday 19 May 2015, four days before the event, the association reversed the decision.

“Essentially what this meant was that the event was effectively cancelled since in terms of the civil aviation act, the Civil Aviation Authority is the only authority responsible for civil aviation.

“However, CAAZ has promised to review the decision and once this decision has been revoked, the event will be conducted on August 8. Inconveniences caused by this disruption are sincerely regretted.”
