ZIMBABWE’S participation in the this year’s International Handball Federation Africa Challenge Trophy Zone Six hangs in the balance as the national association yesterday revealed that they have not yet received money for the trip to Zambia from the International Handball Federation.
The tournament is set to run from September 1 to 5 with teams drawn from the Southern African region competing in the boys’ and girls’ Under-20 sections.
However, the Zimbabwe Handball Federation secretary-general, Alphios Magiya, yesterday said they are yet to receive the money to cater for their travelling, food and accommodation expenses from the IHF who are assisting the national associations to take part in this tournament.

“We have to confirm with the International Handball Federation if they have sent the money.
“Tomorrow (today) we will have a meeting so that’s when we will get an official position. Currently, the money has not reflected in our account.”

Besides facing challenges in securing the money for the trip, the ZHF have failed to raise resources for a training camp for the two national teams ahead of the event as indicated earlier on by the local handball motherbody.
