GWERU City Council has set aside $50 000 for staff development during the 2018 financial year. Gweru Town Clerk Ms Elizabeth Gwatipedza said her local authority was going to send management, middle management and low level employees for further training in their respective fields to improve service delivery.

“We have realised that our staff need some special training in their respective fields where they will be equipped with new skills to improve service delivery. So, we have set aside $50 000 for further training. The staff will include the management, middle management and low level employees,” she said.

Ms Gwatipedza said the local authority was also going to send councillors for further training so that they improved service delivery in their wards.

“Training our councillors will see them being better policymakers. There will be a great enhancement in their decision making, addressing the needs of the community as a whole and finding possible solutions.“The impact for staff development at the end of the day is to equip management, workers and city fathers with skills or extra knowledge to enable them to execute their duties easily and without any troubles. We have realised that by so doing there will be an improvement in terms of our service delivery which has not been quite adequate,” she said.
