Gvt to set up Comprehensive Equity Exchange

State Enterprises and Parastatals Minister Gorden Moyo said studies were being undertaken in Kenya, China and India which had similar bourses.

“We are currently undertaking studies to conceptualise how other countries with this initiative have implemented their models. Countries with such models from which the studies are being undertaken are China, India and Kenya. We have targeted these countries considering the experiences, which they have in operating the projects,” he said.

“The Zimbabwe Comprehensive Equity Exchange (ZCEE) will be specifically for parastatals to recapitalise through listing them on this stock exchange.”

While the setting up of ZCEE will be specifically for listing parastatals, the bourse would also accommodate local companies not listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
Minister Moyo said Government was not putting any time frame as to when the project would be set up adding that they were also working with a Chinese Bureaux Exchange to fund the project.

He would not be drawn into revealing how much was needed to finance ZCEE, as he did not have the figures offhand.-Chronicle
