GUNNERS, the leaders in the World Navi Northern Region Division One league, will not take their match against ZRP Morris lightly when the two sides clash at Lafarge this afternoon. The Northern Region teams return to the field for league action today after being inactive at the weekend to make way for the quarter-finals of the Yadar TV Knockout Cup.

Gunners eased into the semi-finals of the knockout tournament after beating Starbill 1-0 but coach Kudakwashe Masaraure said they were ready for another big fight.

“We do not look down upon any team and the game against ZRP Morris is going to be a tough one as every team would like to beat us,” Masaraure said.

“We will not change our approach even if we play a team which we believe we can overcome.  It’s football and anything can happen so we will not take any chances, every team will be looking forward to upset us as the log leaders and so we have to be serious.

“We are not going to relax considering the stages we are now at.”

Flame Lily take on Glendale lightweights Royal Classic favourites to win this encounter and that piles the pressure on Gunners who cannot afford to lose.

Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera and his men are second in the championship race and the veteran coach says they are in prime shape to challenge for the title.

“The thing is we do not have small teams in the league and any team can pull a shocker so we are well prepared for the game,” Saruchera said.

“Royal Classics are having an indifferent season but that doesn’t make them a bad team at all. I have seen them play and they have a team with so much potential and they can upset anyone at anytime so we will be well prepared for them.

“In terms of injuries we are safe as all the players are well and ready for selection.”
