LONDON. — Arsene Wenger says Gabriel and Per Mertesacker should be fit for Arsenal’s game against Watford… but there is not such good news on five other stars.

The two defenders were both forced off against Hull on Tuesday night, Mertesacker suffering a cut eye and Gabriel a hamstring problem. But Wenger says they have both recovered and will be available for Sunday’s FA Cup game against the Hornets.

“We had a few injuries at Hull – Gabriel, Mertesacker and Ramsey. Mertesacker and Gabriel are very positive, there is nothing wrong there, they are both good,” Wenger said.

However, five other players could miss the quarter-final clash at the Emirates.

The Gunners are still waiting to determine the seriousness of the thigh problem Aaron Ramsey suffered which forced him off just 16 minutes after replacing Gabriel. Laurent Koscielny will undergo a fitness test on the calf injury which has kept him out of the last three games. — The Daily Star.
