Nomadic lead guitarist Noel Nyazanda has retraced his steps to Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo after a three-year absence. Nyazanda who joined Mberikwazvo in 2001, had left the group for Extra Kwazvose in 2013, and rumours about his return have been circulating since the beginning of the year. It is now official. The talented guitarist has rejoined his former paymaster and he joins the team of prodigal sons Jonasi Kasamba and Obert Gomba who also returned to Orchestra Mberikwazvo after the going got tough at Extra Kwazvose.

With Orchestra Mberikwazvo, Nyazanda recorded albums “Zvakanaka Zvakadaro” “Zvido Zvenyu Kunyanya”, “Vapupuri Pupurai”, “Ndezvashe”, “Zvinoda Kutendwa” and “Kwatakabva Mitunhu”.

Tich Makahamadze who is Macheso’s publicist confirmed the development yesterday.

“Noel is back and he has been pardoned just like what happened to Jonasi Kasamba and Obert Gomba. We have some serious projects that are coming your way,” he said.

Makahamadze said the decision came after serious considerations.

“The decision has come after serious considerations and we are happy that he is now back home.”

The guitarist was happy about the development but could not say much.

“It is true that I am back at Mberikwazvo though I will not say much. You can talk to the management for further information,” he said.

Nyazanda will make his first appearance in Orchestra Mberikwazvo line-up at Warren Park 1 Bar on Friday and he will be at new entertainment joint Caprive Pub and Grill at Ziko on Saturday.

Caprive Pub and Grill director Chris Mangena expressed excitement in hosting one of the first shows after Nyazanda’s return.

“Everyone is happy about the development and our show will be exciting because it is the first gig near Chitungwiza after Noel’s return. Chitungwiza is the home of Orchestra Mberikwazvo,” he said.

“Noel is a talented guitarist and we know his return is a big development for Macheso’s fans, especially those from Chitungwiza that regularly come to Ziko for merrymaking.

“Ziko is a well known place with several joints that have been hosting several artists, but the coming of Caprive has brought something refreshing.”

Mangena said they have an up-market setup as well as a place that accommodates live performances to carter for different patrons.

“We are trying to have set up that accommodates everyone. Those who like live performances and those who are not interested in live bands will all have their respective spaces. We are optimistic that the venue will bring something different at Ziko and we are looking forward to Macheso’s show with high expectations.”
