AN Epworth woman appeared in court on Tuesday, charged with ill-treating her grandchild whom she reportedly assaulted and injured. The minor dislocated her arm and sustained bruises on her back.Rumbidzai Nyatsungo (39) was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Gamuchirai Siwardi who remanded her in custody. The minor is recovering in hospital.

The prosecutor Ms Francesca Mukumbiri alleges that on November 24, Nyatsungo was seen by neighbours assaulting the child.

They reported the matter to the police, leading to her arrest.

Police took the minor to hospital for medical examination.

It was then discovered she had suffered a broken arm and sustained other injuries. — HR.
