Upcoming gospel musician Stephen Muzambi has released a tribute song to living and departed liberation war heroes, titled “We Salute You”. The song is a prayer thanking God for guiding them in the liberation struggle. Muzambi said the new production was designed to acknowledge the role played by those who fought for Independence. “The tribute song does not only recognise the selfless contributions made by the heroes but is also a prayer to God so that he guides them in leading the nation and that he blesses them with long life.”

He said he was working on the video which acknowledges the spirit of the liberation war which was not about self-gain but selfless liberation of the nation and self-emancipation for all Zimbabweans.

“Our heroes made sacrifices and the accompanying video for ‘We salute you’ also help tell the story.”

The new album also features another gospel song titled “Rova Musoro” in which he calls on Zimbabweans from all walks to fight the devil who he says is the cause of confusion and misery. Muzambi said in the song he is calling for steadfast prayer by individual Zimbabweans, families and the nation at large so that we enjoy peace and success.

“Zimbabweans need to pray and fight the devil. Even the challenges we face as a country are a result of the enemy, the devil and we must fight him through prayer.”

Muzambi who said his musical aspirations date back to 1994.

“I started my career as a sungura musician and I released two albums namely “Mafireworks” and “Nyama Yakaroora” but after receiving Christ I then decided to sing gospel music. Music is my passion and it has always been in me since my school days. I remember I would sing in the school choir and even at church where I fellow-shipped in the Glad Tidings Church.”

The musician said he would have wanted more tracks on the album but could only record two songs because of funding issues .
