Several gospel divas who have not gone into the studio for years took their acts to the limelight on Saturday at Rebecca Malope’s concert in the Harare Gardens.

The divas did their best to entertain fans that thronged the show.

Divas that include Carol Mujokoro, Mercy Mutsvene and Agatha Murudzwa have been in hibernation, but proved they still have the zeal to entertain.

The trio managed to thrill with songs from their old albums.

Bethen Pasinawako, Joyce Simeti and Irene Tigere brought some exiting dances and thrilled fans.

Mai Charamba, who performed before the main act Malope, ushered people into exiting moments with her songs.

Her husband Pastor Charles Charamba was a backing vocalist during the performance.

The Fishers of Men choreography was exceptional.

Mai Charamba said such concerts were useful to gospel musicians as they gave them a platform to preach the word through music.

“Several gospel musicians have performed here, a development that we should all applaud. Giving our gospel divas chances to perform like this is one way of empowering them,” she said. Malope was the last musician to take the stage and she gave her best.

Her stage work was classical and she performed most of her hit songs much to the delight of the people.

Malope ushered people into praise and worship mood. Local gospel musician Olinda Marowa joined her on stage for a duet.

Rumbi Zvirikuzhe who is studying in Namibia could not make it to the gig.
