Several local gospel divas are expected to share the stage with South Africa’s Rebecca Malope at the “Gospel Divas” concert set for Harare Gardens tomorrow. Malope is expected to fly into the country today ahead of the gig that is likely to attract thousands of music followers. She will also travel to Bulawayo for another leg of the “Gospel Divas” affair on Sunday.Several gospel artistes that include Mai Charamba, Agatha Murudzwa, Carol Mujokoro, Mercy Mutsvene, Joyce Simeti, Jennifer Maneni, Bethen Pasinawako and Ireen Tigere are set to perform at the concert.

Divas like Mujokoro, Mustvene and Murudzwa have been maintaining low profiles and their performances at the gig will announce their return.

Mai Charamba has been on top of her game and has songs that always mesmerise fans when she takes to the stage.

Her albums “Daily Bread” and “The Gospel” are still enjoying airplay despite being released some years back.

She is optimistic about the show, saying it was a great honour for divas in the country as they share stage and showcase their talents.

“It is good that we have such a big platform to preach the word of God through music. The promoter’s move is commendable,” she said.

Maneni said the concert was a good platform for her to shine when she plays songs from all her albums.

Babra Chikosi of Red Rose Entertainment, organisers of the show, said they have done their groundwork in preparing the gig.

“We are done and all the divas said they are prepared for the gig. Our wish is to promote each and every genre in the country,” she said.

She said they were happy that all the artists were looking forward to share stage with one of the celebrated regional gospel divas.

“I am sure collaborations will come because there is time for them to discuss about issues that affect gospel music,” she added.
