DYNAMOS assistant coach Murape Murape believes Simba Gorogodyo will be a good addition to the Glamour Boys squad after the former Tsholotsho man yesterday completed his move on a two-year contract.

Gorogodyo, who had been training with the Glamour Boys since Tuesday, is the third signing by the former champions after Denver Mukamba who returned to the club this year from a stint in South Africa, and youthful Tawanda Macheka from Midlands State University.

Dynamos have also promoted Farai Admiral Matope and Cedric Maruta after parting ways with six players who include Evans Gwekwerere, Richard Kawondera, Farai Mupasiri, Walter Mukanga, Jimmy Dzingai and Kelvin Bulaji.

Murape sounded confident although it was not clear yesterday whether Gorogodyo will take part in tomorrow’s match against Border Strikers at Rufaro.

Gorogodyo, who was one of the key players at Tsholotsho since their promotion two seasons ago, is comfortable on both sides of the midfield playing behind the strikers.

“He is a good player. Already he has shown us good signs of what kind of a player he could be and he can only get better if we continue to work with him here. So I think he is a good addition in terms of pace that we need going forward.

“We are still trying to work out on the combinations and to help him accustom himself to the new environment and with his new teammates.

“We will give him all the support that he needs and it will be up to him to work hard and prove himself,” said Murape.

Gorogodyo’s move was facilitated by his manager George Deda who branded the player a worthy replacement for Ronald Chitiyo who moved to Harare City earlier this season.

Gorogodyo started his career at Division One Side Banket United in 2007 before moving to Botswana where he played for Premiership side Miscellaneous between 2013 and 2014.

The midfielder said he is looking to make an instant impact at Dynamos.

“It feels great, everyone wants to play for a big club like Dynamos. I am happy I will be able to get the exposure that you cannot get when playing for small clubs.

“Usually it’s not always easy to fit into a new set up when one moves to big clubs like Dynamos, but I am sure I will add value.

“So I welcome this opportunity with both hands. My wish in the long run is to play abroad,” said Gorogodyo.

Dynamos are looking to continue with their momentum tomorrow when they host Border Strikers. Spirits are high in their camp after winning their last four games on the trot.

The Harare giants were yesterday still expecting to receive Mukamba’s reverse clearance from South Africa.

Murape was hopeful the lanky midfielder will make his first start despite lingering concerns over a shoulder injury.

Defender Ocean Mushure was also being monitored by the medical team. Dynamos are fifth on the log standings with 20 points from 12 starts.

“Those games that we won were just the beginning of what we wanted after that bad start. In fact, as Dynamos we shouldn’t be celebrating winning four games,” said Murape.

“We are a big team and I believe we can do better than that. We should be winning regularly, that is what our fans have been used to over the years.

“So if you ask me, as technical team we are not yet satisfied with what we have done so far. Hardwork is still needed, we need to keep the momentum.

“When we face a team like Border Strikers everyone just expect us to steam-roll past them, but the truth is you need to work for that. Our games are never easy because every team want to brag about beating Dynamos.

“So we are not taking Border Strikers lightly. Remember these guys are coming from a win against Harare City and their confidence is high.”

Border Strikers currently anchor the table with six points.

The Beitbridge side has found the going tough in their debut season after losing 10 of their opening 12 matches.

But last week they posted their second win when they edged Harare City 1-0 at their Dulivhadzimu home ground.

Their coach Never Malunga yesterday said they were happy to be the underdogs.

“Obviously we respect Dynamos because they are a big team, but on Matchday we treat them like any other team in the Premiership. We will do our best to come back with something.

“It’s football, tough luck if we lose. I believe we are still work in progress.

“The fact that we won last week doesn’t automatically mean that now we have the momentum. We continue working,” said Malunga.

Border Strikers will be without their skipper Michael Vhariso who has been suspended after picking three yellow cards.
