Judgment for former Zanu-PF Harare Province youth league chairperson, Godwin Gomwe accused of insulting a party member has been set for Monday.

Gomwe (34) pleaded not guilty to criminal insult and contravening the Postal and Telecommunications Act charges.

In his defence through his lawyer Mr John Ndomene, Gomwe accused the complainant Winnie Madekufamba of trying to smear his bright political career.

He also denied labelling the woman a “Gamatox” or abusing the First Lady Amai Mugabe’s name to fuel factionalism between rival war collaborators association, Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Association (ZILIWACA) and Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Organisation (ZILIWACO).

Harare magistrate Mr Takunda Mutetwa postponed judgement to Monday. Gomwe is accused of assaulting Madekufamba (52) on December 5 last year during the Zanu-PF national congress.

He allegedly called her a ‘gamatox’ and a witch.

Gamatox is a term that was used by some Zanu-PF officials to refer to people who were accused of plotting to topple President Mugabe.

The court heard that Gomwe also shouted at the woman saying he could have sexual intercourse with her and her goblins until they felt dizzy.

It is alleged that Gomwe threatened to incite other party youths to assault her.

On May 6 this year, Gomwe allegedly phoned Cde Abraham Samushonga and insulted him using unprintable words.

Cde Samushonga is said to have put his phone on the speaker so that a friend he was with could hear the insults and be a witness.
