over the welfare of the former’s grandmother.
Police have since launched a manhunt for Dzikamai Sibanda of Siamajika Village in Gokwe North. Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Patrick Chademana confirmed the incident. He said investigations were in progress. Insp Chademana said Sibanda visited his uncle, Bickson Tshuma (40), in Ntabeni Village under Chief Simuchembo in the same area. He said a heated argument ensued with Sibanda accusing Tshuma of failing to look after Simabululanga Tshuma (85).
The octogenarian stayed with Tshuma at his homestead.
“A misunderstanding arose between the two and the suspect charged at Bickson Tshuma but was restrained by a relative. Tshuma ran away from the homestead towards his garden and the suspect gave chase,” Insp Chademana said.
Sibanda picked a stone and hit Tshuma on the back of his head.
Tshuma sustained a deep cut and started bleeding. He lost consciousness.
“The suspect ran away while Tshuma was taken to a police station by a relative for a report on the way to Gokwe Hospital but he died on admission. Members of the public who might know Sibanda’s whereabouts should report to the nearest police station,” he said.
Insp Chademana appealed to members of the public to solve their matters by involving third parties whenever there is a dispute to avoid such fatalities.
