Bishop Dr B Manjoro
TODAY I will be speaking about giving up. We are living in a generation were people are quickly giving up, they start something, meet some resistance along the way, they might fight just a little bit then pronounce it’s over, they pack up and leave.
That explains why there are so many packed up talents and dreams and businesses that never made it out of the front door. Sometimes you give up when the answer is right round the corner, when it’s almost in your hands.

There is a famous quote of old that says “Winners never quit”, and how true it is. The other way round is equally true and powerful, “Quitters never win!”
The greatest tragedy in life lies in these two statements above, that is, when man chooses to throw in the towel and forego what they had hoped for, believed for, prayed for and waited for.

All around us today, in marriages, families, companies, groups, organisations and nations the greatest weapon the enemy is using is, GIVING UP. “It’s too late”, “I can’t do it”, “It’s too hard”, “It’s over”. Yet the Law of Faith says, “Never Give Up”.

We will explore the Word of God today and see how this powerful concept determined the course and destiny of over six million people in the Bible who had a goal to get to the Promised Land, that place where God wants you to be.

Are you sick and dying with TB, there is a place of divine health for you in God; are you financially challenged, stressed or told you will never hold a baby in your arms? Rejoice, there is a promised land for you, a place of success, peace and fruitfulness in Christ. Read on and discover how you can get to that place and overcome, giving up!

In Numbers 14:1-6 we see after the negative report by the 10 spies, ‘’. . . all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and . . . wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

“And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

“Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation . . . Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes.’’

After hearing about the giants, the whole congregation of Israel, rebelled and murmured against Moses and Aaron, and sought for a captain to lead them back to Egypt, back in the land of captivity, forsaking the Promised Land.

What do the scriptures above mean and how do they apply in our lives today? These same people had seen God work miracles, seen him provide manna and water from a rock and seen him deliver them out of Egypt with a mighty hand but instead of crying unto their God they began to complain and said it was better that they had died in Egypt.

Where they were slaves? Can you imagine that the journey from Egypt that should have taken them 40 days took them 40 years just to get to Canaan? They quickly gave up the moment they heard about the giants.

Have you been told you are dying of heart disease, yet you once believed God could heal you by his power? In that case, for example, “Egypt” is staying in the heart disease condition and believing it’s over and “Canaan” is stepping into God’s promise of healing and divine health for you.

I challenge you today, not to give up. No matter how hard things may be, no matter what hindrance you may be facing in your life, speak death to the hindrance and proceed to your destiny. Go for what you believe and want God to do for you, go for your Promised Land!

Think about this; before you give up see what you are losing, see what you were supposed to achieve and see what you want to go back to. It was better for the Israelites to press on than to go back to slavery. Look at your situation and just think about what you are about to lose by giving up. Look at what you have already given up and just think about where you could have been.

Your marriage could have been going through rough times and you were contemplating letting it all go and opting for divorce; your business going down; investments not growing; a God-given idea or proposal withstood; applications being turned down; struggling with miscarriages and even barrenness, I have a word for you DON’T GIVE UP!

Mostly in life when it gets real tough, the miracle will be just around the corner. Have the mentality of a conqueror and an attitude of faith. Like I have always encouraged people, when things get tough, the tough get going! Keep going for what you believe, keep moving, keep believing, the miracle is yours!

You could be asking and wondering now and saying in your heart, “But Bishop how do I overcome giving up and how do I stay strong in faith?” That’s a good question.

Of the entire congregation, the Bible says two men saw things differently. When others were seeing an impossibility, giants and defeat, Caleb and Joshua were raring to go and possess the land. To them the giants were but, bread ready to be eaten! Of course, they saw giants but they had God on their side.

What challenge is before you? How do you see it and how do you see yourself? Remember in one of the articles I taught on the principle that highlights how people become what they see. When you see failure, you become a failure.

Have you been wondering how to stay strong and not give up? The answer is the Word, standing on the Word of God. No devil can stand before a man or woman of faith, no giant is too big for you if you have faith! Get to know what God has said and promised about you and go for it!

How and why do many give up? When what they hope or believe for seem not to happen or seem delayed or out of reach – time seems to have gone by, many give up.

I encourage you today, a delay is not a denial. God is never far away from you. He created you in his own likeness and image, he lives in you. Have faith in Him and put all your trust in Him.

Don’t lose the fight because of what you are going through or what is coming against you. When you come to church it’s like you have been crafted into the army of God, crafted into the war, you have to begin to say whatever comes my way I will fight.

Soldiers do not run away from war they fight to their death or until a ceasefire has been called. As long as there is still breath in you fight. Today whatever has been coming against you must call a ceasefire and get out of your life.

God did not call you to just try he called you to overcome. I challenge you today to never ever give up. Giving up is not an option, giving up is a strategy of the enemy to make you lose the goal.

Cowards drop the goal; champions fight to the end! You are a champion, fight! Even at this time of the year, these last few weeks – do not give up on your goals and dreams. You can still do it, you can still make it. Keep fighting the good fight of faith, the miracle is for you, 2014 is still there and still holding great things for you. It’s not yet over until it’s over. And always remember,’ Winners never quit, Quitters never win!’
