A German business delegation led by German–African Business Association chief executive Mr Christoph Kannengiesser will visit Zimbabwe from October 19-21. In a statement issued by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Zimbabwe yesterday, the programme of the visit comprises meetings with Government representatives.

The visit will also encompass a business round table and a workshop focusing on doing business in Zimbabwe. The German–African Business Association (Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft) is the foreign trade association representing more than 500 German companies and institutions with an interest in Africa.

“Through its well established networks, the association promotes exchange between German and African representatives from both business and politics. In doing so, the Association advocates a new conception of Africa in Germany: Africa as a continent of opportunity,” said the Embassy in a statement.

The upcoming visit of a German business delegation is the second one in 2015. In April 2015 a group of companies focusing on the mining and mineral resources sector paid a successful visit to Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe, has since the beginning of the year, witnessed renewed attention from international delegations interested in doing business in the country. Recently Nigerian businessman Mr Aliko Dangote visited the country and expressed intention to set up a cement plant among other projects in mining and energy.

In an interview recently, Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Permanent Secretary Dr Desire Sibanda said the country received close to 50 delegations over seven months who were scouting for investment opportunities.
