Upcoming afro-jazz musician Gary Tight has embarked on a national tour that is meant to promote his single “Ndazonyora” released late last year. The tour will be launched today at the Book Cafe and the musician is expected to share the stage with Zimdancehall artiste Ras Caleb.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Gary said he wants to give an opportunity to his fans across the country to see him perform and at the same time promoting the single and sampling some of his new songs from the upcoming album to be released in August.

“I want my fans in different areas of the country to get a chance to see us performing and I am also going to use this platform to sample some of my songs which are on my upcoming album to be released soon,” he said.

The album features his father Willom Tight ,who is also going to be part of the performance tonight.

“My dad is going to feature on my first show of the tour since we collaborated on two songs which are on the upcoming album and we are going to perform those songs. I am inviting people to come in their numbers since we are promising a polished act after a number of rehearsals,” he said.

“Ndazonyora” features contemporary musician Jah Prayzah.

Gary has participated in several festivals where he has shared the stage with superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Alexio Kawara, Leonard Zhakata and the late mbira queen Chiwoniso Maraire.

He has shown his versatility when it comes to playing instruments as he is good at both the mbira and guitar. He has assembled a six-piece band called The Tight Band composed of young men below the age of 20 including Clive Mono Mukundu’s son Taka Mukundu, who just like his father plays the lead guitar, and talented bass guitarist Ronald Mhundwa.
