Zimbabwe dancehall award-winning artiste, Freeman’s star continues to shine. The “Joina City” hitmaker left Zimbabwe today as he embarks on his maiden international tour of Australia where he is scheduled to perform in Melbourne and Perth.
The Bindura-bred chanter whose – real name Emegy Sylvester Chizanga – will start his shows with a performance in Melbourne on Thursday before he takes his act to Perth on Saturday.

An ecstatic Freeman promised he would do justice to his fans in the Diaspora.

“I am promising big things since it’s my first time to perform at such a grand stage and this means that I have to impress my fans and promoters in the Diaspora.

“I will be travelling alone since the promoters said they could only accommodate one artiste although their initial intention was to include Suluman Chimbetu on this tour.

If all goes well, we might still be together with Sulu.”

He added: “Apart from my previous hits, I also have new singles like “Tiri KuDefender Title’’, “Bata Rudo Rwangu’’ which is in the Power Charts, “Rwendo Rwemangoma’’ featuring D Flex as well as “Kuno”.

“It is also a chance for me to unveil the award-winning album ‘New Chapter’.”

Asked how he won the hearts of the promoters, Freeman said it was through his manager Watson Kafela who spoke with the promoters.

“The promoters Afro Jazz Promotions (Nyasha Nyabinde and Chichi) did some confirmation with their fellow promoters abroad and then hooked up with my manager.

This shows the level of appeal that Zimbabwean dancehall music is making outside our borders,” he said.

Freeman said his return home will be a flying visit before he embarks on another international trip.

He will stage shows in Gokwe on April 25, Marondera the following day and a farewell gig on April 26.

“I will be leaving for the United Kingdom for a series of shows with fellow Zimbabwean artistes Shinsoman, Soul Jah Love, Guspy Warrior, Seh Calaz, Trevor Dongo and Knoxx.

“We will depart on April 27 with our first show being pencilled for Luton on May 2 before we head for Coventry on May 3 while the last gig will be in Manchester on May 4,” he said.

Last year, Freeman performed in Pretoria and Cape Town but the Australian tour is expected to cement his stature as one of Zimbabwe’s most sought-after and gifted dancehall chanters.
